It enables surgeons to see the fluorescence as augmented reality. This overlays the blood vessels while maintaining the view of the surrounding anatomical environment of the surgical site.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"t3m-ProductArticle-intendedUse\">\n<p>Whether clamping an aneurysm, removing an AVM, performing microvascular decompression or bypass, clear visualisation of cerebral anatomy and blood flow is essential for optimal outcomes. With the so-called GLOW800 augmented reality (AR) fluorescence and ICG, surgeons see the cerebral anatomy in natural colours with full depth perception, enhanced with real-time vascular perfusion. This has been made possible by the company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leica-microsystems.com\/de\/\">Leica Microsystems<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Leica Microsystems develops and produces microscopes and scientific instruments for the analysis of micro- and nanostructures.<\/p>\n<p>With this latest technology, surgical procedures no longer have to be interrupted to switch between the natural microscope image and a two-dimensional black and white near-infrared video. For surgeons, this means no more mental gymnastics to merge the different views. This extended view is intended to provide more safety. Surgeons can choose from a range of false colours as needed and for optimal contrast with the tissue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Three companies have made it to the final of this year's Swiss Medtech Awards.
