The most original art happening in Basel is the trolley race. Now it's also available as a homage in book form and with an augmented reality app.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Basel trolley race has been held annually on the tracks in the Dreispitz area since 2016. Artists, constructors and creative people of all professions compete for fun with adventurous rolling stock.<\/span><\/p>\n

Records are only incidentally at stake here, and the will to win is the least of all. What is very much in demand, however, is the performance on the track, the anarchic happening, the beauty of failure. Some trolley teams are also interested in reinventing the wheel. In 2017, for example, the Kunsthalle Basel sent three blocks of ice onto the rails. They melted before they even started, much to the amusement of the children in the audience. Art houses such as the Museum Tinguely or the Kunstmuseum Basel also send their self-built vehicles to the start. It is not only the speed that is rewarded - in addition to the jury and audience prizes, there is also an award for the \"most beautiful failure\".

Benedikt Wyss and Thilo Mangold, co-race directors of the happening, have now created a Photo book<\/a> which spectacularly captures the spirit of the participating movement artists. The special highlight: an augmented reality app called \"<\/strong>PRIMO Print in Motion\"<\/strong> turns all the black and white images printed in the book into videos.<\/span><\/p>\n
