Lorena Fankhauser (24), a Master's graduate from the University of Lucerne, was interested in the interface between business, technology and psychology in her Master's thesis. Fankhauser focused on \"perceived ownership\". She compares this concept with the children's room in the parental home, which does not legally belong to the child, but emotionally does. She put forward the thesis that AR generates this feeling more strongly than a 2D or 3D image and that people are therefore more willing to pay for the product presented.<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3 id=\"vw-bus-modell-als-testobjekt\" class=\"subtitle articlecomponent regwalled\" data-team-subtitle=\"\" data-nzz-article-component=\"\"><span>VW bus model as test object<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"articlecomponent text regwalled\" data-team-paragraph=\"\" data-nzz-article-component=\"\">To test her hypothesis, Fankhauser did a laboratory experiment with a questionnaire that could be accessed via mobile phone or tablet. She used the collector's model of a VW bus as the test object. After three weeks, more than 300 students had taken part in her survey. Fankhauser's thesis was partially confirmed: the feeling of ownership is indeed stronger when the subjects were shown an AR representation of the Bulli model instead of a more conventional 2D representation.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"neue-studie\" class=\"subtitle articlecomponent regwalled\" data-team-subtitle=\"\" data-nzz-article-component=\"\"><span>New study<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"articlecomponent text regwalled\" data-team-paragraph=\"\" data-nzz-article-component=\"\">The native of Wolhus was also involved with AR outside of her Master's thesis. She was given the opportunity to work as a co-author on a research project at the University of Lucerne. The fact that this took place in parallel to her Master's thesis \"was a good change of pace\", says the former student. The project is a representative study on the perception and use of AR applications, the results of which will soon be published. It should provide information about the attitude of the Swiss population towards AR.
