In England, a study is currently investigating whether virtual reality could perhaps even be used for psychotherapy.<!--more--><\/h3>\n<p>Using VR for therapeutic purposes is nothing new in and of itself, as several <a href=\"https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/en\/?s=therapie\">Examples<\/a> show. In the UK, however, a large-scale study into VR-assisted psychotherapy was launched at the beginning of July. The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is supporting the study, which is being conducted in collaboration with <a title=\"gameChange\" href=\"https:\/\/gamechangevr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gameChange<\/a> is executed with four million British pounds.<\/p>\n<p>\"Our VR therapy is intended for people who suffer from illnesses such as schizophrenia and whose anxiety is so severe that even everyday tasks such as using public transport, shopping and communicating with other people become a challenge,\" says lead researcher Daniel Freeman.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14488\" src=\"https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/48086400571_186b23c006_z-300x203.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"559\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/48086400571_186b23c006_z-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/48086400571_186b23c006_z-350x237.jpg 350w, https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/48086400571_186b23c006_z-254x172.jpg 254w, https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/48086400571_186b23c006_z-125x85.jpg 125w, https:\/\/vr-room.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/48086400571_186b23c006_z.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 559px) 100vw, 559px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"so-funktioniert-es\">How it works<\/h3>\n<p>The idea behind the study is simple. Patients are confronted with relevant everyday situations using virtual reality and can learn to master the situations and develop coping strategies at their own pace. Patients have six different scenarios with different levels of difficulty at their disposal. These include closed rooms and public transport. Each session lasts 30 minutes and is accompanied by a coach.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, 400 patients are being treated with virtual reality and 400 others without VR. At the end, the results will be compared and analysed.
