The \"VR Star\" theme park in the Chinese province of Guizhou actually opened last year, but it has recently become better known in the West. The main reason for this is probably a video documentary by Youtuber Nathie (Nathaniel de Jong), who dared to go on a ride with a robotic arm and many other of the more than 40 attractions during his visit. De Jong was thrilled:<\/p>\n
\"This is clearly the Valhalla for every VR enthusiast! All the simulators are here, and all the headsets you've ever dreamed of can be tried out. (...) They have a variety of headsets in use, depending on the simulator. I've used the Vive, Rift, Gear VR, Odyssey, Pimax, DPVR, 3D glasses and many Chinese brands that have never been offered on the Western market.\"<\/p>\n
In addition to arcade versions of well-known games such as Beat Saber, there are also all kinds of hydraulic attractions in which you are shaken up in a rafting boat, for example. Or if you prefer, you can climb into a giant robotic arm that spins you around like a rollercoaster, or take a seat on a free-floating turbo witch's broom that flies through a spooky forest at night. The car scooters, in which you apparently fight each other with weapons, sound interesting. If you want, you can also take a seat in the simulation of an old Cologne city railway. The fight for survival in a spaceship takes a different approach, where you can move freely around an arena and shoot at monstrous aliens with a plastic gun.<\/p>\n
In addition to the glowing Tron-style interior, the oriental-inspired buildings will also light up at night (the park's project name was Oriental Science Fiction Valley). Despite the huge expense by VR standards, the amount invested sounds like a bargain by Western standards: Only 1.5 billion dollars had been invested in the project for the 13,000 square metre park.<\/a><\/p>\n
