In an interview with CNBC<\/a> revealed that the company is working on its own AR glasses. It should not be long before the data glasses are released. \"We will launch a product with a better user experience,\" said Huawei's head of consumer business Richard Yu about the glasses, which will work in conjunction with a smartphone.<\/p>\n

\"In the next one to two years, there will be a commercial turnaround in the industry, including for Huawei. We will offer a good and user-friendly product for this,\" announced Huawei's smartphone boss. The hardware is currently under development and should be released within the next one to two years.<\/p>\n

At a corporate event in Rome, Huawei Eco Connect, on 8 November, the Chinese company presented its 5G strategy for Western Europe, among other things. The Huawei 5G truck was also parked in front of the Convention Centre. There, conference participants were able to find out about the possibilities of the new technology and watch drone footage via VR glasses (Oculus Rift). 5G networks offer low latency and a large bandwidth.<\/p>\n

However, the bridge to AR is still the smartphone for Huawei.<\/p>\n

With a new service called Cloud X, Huawei is currently attempting to virtualise the computing power of a PC workstation on a smartphone via 5G and 4G connections. This service is currently still reserved for mobile devices such as the Mate 20 from Huawei, Alex Wang Yufeng, Head of Huawei X Labs, told journalists at a roundtable. However, depending on the ecosystem and co-operations, broader support is conceivable in the future.<\/p>\n

The company has not yet revealed the technical specifications of the AR glasses. Huawei has already gained experience in the virtual reality scene. The company has already worked together with TPCast. The company, which was supported by the Vive X partner programme, has since released wireless adapters for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. In the Middle East, Huawei wants to explore the possibilities of 5G for virtual reality as part of a partnership.<\/p>\n
