The famous Smithsonian Institution<\/a> in Washington D.C. is pushing ahead with the VR expansion of its museums together with Intel. All 157 million art objects in the possession of the Smithsonian Institution are to be available at some point as 3D models and in virtual reality.<\/p>\n

The VR exhibition \"No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man\" is now new. The implementation of the virtual museum is not yet available to the public as an app. It looks like the whole thing is limited to teaching, trade fairs and exhibitions for the time being.<\/p>\n

In a Press release<\/a> from Intel is said: \"Although more than 30 million people walk through the doors of the Smithsonian museums each year, hundreds of millions will never be able to visit in person. Virtual reality creates new opportunities for these people to access the Smithsonian's collections, research and educational resources, regardless of their ability to physically visit a museum or research centre. The Smithsonian American Art Museum can share its exhibitions with art lovers around the world.\"<\/p>\n
