The famous Smithsonian Institution<\/a> in Washington D.C. is pushing ahead with the VR expansion of its museums together with Intel. All 157 million art objects in the possession of the Smithsonian Institution are to be available at some point as 3D models and in virtual reality.<\/p>\n

Neu ist jetzt die VR-Ausstellung „No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man“. Noch ist die Umsetzung des virtuellen Museums nicht als App f\u00fcr die \u00d6ffentlichkeit zug\u00e4nglich. Wie es aussieht, ist das Ganze zun\u00e4chst auf die Lehre, Messen und Ausstellungen beschr\u00e4nkt.<\/p>\n

In a Press release<\/a> von Intel wird gesagt: „Obwohl jedes Jahr mehr als 30 Millionen Menschen durch die T\u00fcren der Smithsonian-Museen gehen, werden Hunderte von Millionen nie in der Lage sein, sie pers\u00f6nlich zu besuchen. Die virtuelle Realit\u00e4t schafft neue M\u00f6glichkeiten f\u00fcr diese Menschen, auf die Sammlungen, Forschungs- und Bildungsressourcen des Smithsonian zuzugreifen, unabh\u00e4ngig von ihrer F\u00e4higkeit, ein Museum oder ein Forschungszentrum physisch zu besuchen. Das Smithsonian American Art Museum kann seine Ausstellungen mit Kunstliebhabern auf der ganzen Welt teilen.“<\/p>\n
